Recognising the People Behind Box Hill Institute's Success

One of the great privileges of being a corporate Master of Ceremonies is having a front-row seat to organisations celebrating the people who make them successful. Recently, I had the honour of hosting the inaugural Box Hill Institute Recognition and Awards Gala at The Aviary, Crown Melbourne—an evening dedicated to recognising outstanding students, staff and industry partners.

For me, the event held special significance. As a former student of Box Hill Institute, returning as Master of Ceremonies for its very first Recognition and Awards Gala was both a professional honour and a personal milestone.

The evening brought together board members, government representatives, industry partners, educators and students against the spectacular Melbourne skyline. A heartfelt Welcome to Country by Uncle Shane set a respectful and inspiring tone before the celebrations began.

Throughout the evening, awards were presented across three major categories: Student Awards, Staff Awards and Industry Partner Awards. While every winner deserved recognition, what impressed me most was the atmosphere in the room. Every finalist and recipient received genuine encouragement and enthusiastic applause, creating a celebration that was about much more than trophies—it was about recognising contribution, dedication and community.

With the rooftop venue filled to capacity, the evening reflected the remarkable momentum Box Hill Institute has built in recent years. The organisation's continued growth was evident not only in the achievements being recognised but also in the optimism, pride and sense of purpose shared by everyone in attendance.

As Master of Ceremonies, my role was to ensure the evening flowed seamlessly while allowing every award recipient and speaker to enjoy their moment in the spotlight. Great awards nights aren't simply about following a run sheet—they're about creating the right atmosphere, maintaining energy throughout the evening and helping every guest feel connected to the celebration.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this inaugural event to life, including Amy Osbourne, Amy Whitehead, Rheea Busawon, Nick Feain and the entire organising team, CEO Grant Radford, and of course every finalist and award recipient.

It was a privilege to be part of such a significant occasion, and I have no doubt this will become a much-loved annual tradition.
